This project involved the development of a large open plan brick barn and separate, timber framed cart shed into a new residential property. The outer fabric of the brick barn was generally in good condition, with a mix of 225mm and 335mm thick walling. Structural works involved design of a new timber framed mezzanine floor and roof strengthening. The cart shed required more extensive refurbishment of the existing structure, together with additional framing to form the new layout arrangement. The two areas were joined together with a contemporary fully glazed link.
